Ogilvy D.C.’s chapter of Black Diaspora is excited to announce that registration is open for the Agency-Ready Diversity Workshop. This virtual program aims to prepare college students of color, especially Black men and women, for internships and entry-level careers in advertising and public relations.
While more men and women of color are moving up the corporate ladder, more diversity, equity, and inclusion is needed in the public relations (PR) and advertising industries. The need for proactive approaches in organizational culture, accountability, and efforts supported by all, not just relegated to a single department are some of the barriers seen in racial diversity in PR and Advertising industries.
The Agency-Ready Diversity Workshop aims to address and arm all students of color, especially Black students with the tools to excel in the PR and Advertising industries. This free, multi-week workshop not only creates a diverse and productive college-to-workforce pipeline but also provides students with the necessary skills to confidently compete and apply for internships, entry-level positions, and other opportunities at Ogilvy and other leading agencies.
Each week, Ogilvy staff and agency professionals will provide students with a mixture of panel discussions that address critical topics of race and diversity in the PR and Advertising field and hands-on workshops aimed at creating competitive agency applicants.
A select number of participants will also have the opportunity to connect with agency professionals through our craft sessions and one-on-one consultations to help provide a deeper level of engagement and support. An application and essay are required for consideration.
During the month of October, Ogilvy staff along with other PR and advertising agency professionals will host panel discussions and a hands-on workshops to prepare for agency life. The weekly panel discussions will touch on key topics of race and diversity in the PR and advertising fields, while the hands-on workshops provide attendees with the necessary skills and tools to become a competitive applicant for agency internships and entry-level positions. College juniors, seniors, recent graduates and graduate students of any field of study are encourage to register today.
Following the final panel discussion, a select number of applicants will have an opportunity to meet 1:1 with Ogilvy professionals for career, resumes, and portfolio guidance during three craft sessions in creative, paid media, strategy, PR and influence, and account management. A separate application and essay are required for consideration and due by October 13 at 5PM ET.
