Did you know Four in 10 (40%) have experienced microaggressions at work related to their identity. This figure rises to almost six in 10 for gay, lesbian (58%) and bisexual (59%) employees and to 64% for individuals from Black Caribbean background. [1]
Microaggressions are harmful and have a lasting impact on a person’s mental health. Ogilvy Health in collaboration with NABS (UK advertising industry wellbeing charity) have created a book called, Throwaway Comments – Lifelong Hurt.
The book is a collection of 35 unique stories covering a wide range of topics: gender, race, chronic illness, disability, age, mental health, sexuality, eating disorders, religion, language, OCD and more. Each story is brought to life by a diverse set of illustrators, using creativity to communicate their impact in a compelling and new way.
As you read the stories please do so with an open mind and a willingness to learn: Throwaway Comments Digital Book.pdf
