Piyush Pandey is Ogilvy’s living legend. Throughout his distinguished career, he has been bestowed with numerous honors, from the Lion of St. Mark at Cannes to Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Clios and AAAI, to becoming the first advertising person to receive the Padma Shri, India’s national civilian award.
We are incredibly proud that Piyush has added another to this very long and deserving list, as he was recently given the Lotus Legend Award by the ADFEST Hall of Fame. The Lotus Legend was introduced in 2012 to honor a regional creative leader who has impacted, contributed to, and raised the standard of creative excellence in their region.
From his iconic ads for Fevicol and Cadbury to brilliant campaigns like Shah Rukh Khan-My-Ad, Piyush has built brands and generated impact for many years. But that is not the only reason he has earned so many honors. What all of his great work has in common is that it is intimately steeped in culture, with a fervent understanding of how people think, respond, and ultimately feel. Piyush’s work has been so successful because it appeals to a deep and unique sense of belonging. You can watch his induction, which includes a compilation featuring some of his most famous work, here.
In accepting the award, Piyush said, “You do not wear your country on your sleeve, you wear your country it in your heart.” And he offered this wisdom to the young people who will carry the industry forward: “Believe in yourself, believe in your country, and believe that the world will salute you one day.”
