EMERGENCY is an independent, neutral Italian NGO, born in 1994 to provide free medical and surgical care to the victims of war, landmines, poverty, and stands for civil rights all around the world.
Every year Emergency, in partnership with Ogilvy Italy, releases a
wishing video right on New Year eve asking people to reflect on humanity’s biggest threats and this
year’s theme is a reflection about something that is very relevant and affects us all greatly.
The film “Everyone has the right to a chance”, shows us different people waiting for something. A
mother and a father holding a pink backpack, two friends in a waiting room somewhere in the Middle
East, a girl with a cello who’s accompanied by her mom, and even a Texan man: every single one of
them awaits for a moment, or for someone, that is very important to them. Only when a door is
opened and a doctor shows up calling “the next one”, we finally get to know what this is all about. We
find out that every person was waiting for life-changing news: the diagnosis of a disease.
For a lot of people all over the world, such a diagnosis is a point of no return, because one billion eight
hundred thousand of them doesn’t have access to or can’t afford the costs of medical treatments they
need to survive or get better
Emergency shares its wishes for the new year reaffirming its commitment and desire to work towards
accessible, free, and high-quality healthcare for everyone.
