KFC and Ogilvy South Africa have launched a campaign inspired by the story of man traveling across the country impersonating a KFC Food Inspector to get his hands on free KFC. The restaurant chain announced to the public that it hired a private investigator to unearth the secrets behind this urban legend. Alongside a hotline, the campaign was supported by a web-series which documented the PI’s investigation and an engaging always-on media strategy, culminating in a film that depicts the great lengths this cult hero went to, as he journeyed across South Africa as an “Unofficial Taste Inspector”.
